Harry Clarke

Harry had a stroke in 1988, and spent three months in a hospital and three more months in a rehab centre having speech, occupational and physiotherapy.

During that period he identified a need for counselling in himself and

for others with a stroke, which led him to enrol in an introductory Counselling Course at the City Lit. Institute, London. He then went on to undertake a two-year Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Interpersonal Skills at the Institute of Education, University of London.

He started working as a part-time counsellor at the City Dysphasic Group in 1995. He has since taken a one-year introductory course into Gestalt Therapy, with emphasis on loss and bereavement. Harry has given numerous talks and workshops around Britain on the emotional impact of aphasia.

Harry was a serious rocker in his youth, and traded safety pins with the Sex Pistols!
