About the course

Working with people who have communication difficulties can be challenging for everyone in the stroke team, not to mention the person who has the communication difficulties. This course gives you a fresh perspective on what it’s like to acquire and live with the complexities of stroke and communication difficulty. It will examine why institutional settings can be so alienating and frustrating for people whose communication is compromised and what you can do to make life easier. The day will give you practical suggestions and hands-on experience in making your interactions positive, fruitful and mutually beneficial.

Who is the course for?

Stroke teams including stroke service coordinators, Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALs representatives), GPs, consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, counsellors, psychologists, nursing staff.
