Connect Conference
Monday 19th June 2006
Innovations in long term support services for people with stroke and aphasia

We are delighted to announce the theme of the Connect conference 2006. This exciting day will include ideas and examples of innovation in stroke and aphasia care from the UK and beyond. Speakers from across the nation will be sharing their knowledge and experience to help you look at new ways to improve your stroke service in a showcase of innovation and creativity.

This is where you come in. We would like to invite you to be part of this day. Don't keep your creative ideas to yourself - use this event as a platform to show colleagues in other areas how inventive you have been in providing a relevant and effective service for those living with stroke and aphasia. This may be anything from designing a local information resource to collaborating with volunteers to run an effective service, developing a gardening club or supporting return to work - just for example. Whatever it is we would like to hear about it.

This invitation is open to stroke teams, therapists, stroke co-ordinators, multi-disciplinary teams, ward staff, nurses, consultants, assistants, dysphasia support services or other voluntary services - in fact anyone who is involved with improving life after stroke for people with stroke and aphasia and their relatives.

What you will need to do
You will need to prepare a 15-20 minute presentation to be delivered in London on Monday 19th June 2006.

What you will get out of it

  • The prospect of improving opportunities for people with aphasia elsewhere through sharing your ideas and experience with other people.
  • The chance to hear about the innovation and experiences of other stroke service providers.
  • Recognition for the enterprise of your service.
  • The opportunity to add to your continuing professional development portfolio.
