Training together in Cornwall

08 June 2007

Cornwall now has twenty five people living with aphasia trained as Conversation Skills Trainers, thanks to the Speech and Language Therapy service and Access to Life in Cornwall Project.

Participants on the course explored what makes a good conversation and ways that other people can support conversation for those with aphasia. They then learnt how to give constructive feedback to those they will be training.

Seven people with aphasia attended a two-day training course in Redruth in May and along with two groups who have been trained previously, will now work alongside staff on the project to deliver Conversation Skills training to health and social care staff throughout Cornwall. The next Training Together course will be held in June in Lanhydrock.
