National Stroke Strategy - the Consultation begins

31 July 2007

The draft National Stroke Strategy was published on 9th July 2007. We are now in the Consultation period - a time for everyone to give their views.

The Department of Health has been looking at how to improve stroke services and how to make services better for:

• People who have had a stroke
• Relatives and carers of people who have had a stroke
• People who are in danger of having a stroke

The draft National Stroke Strategy for England was published on 9th July 2007. We are now in the consultation period – this is the time for people to comment on what they think.  You might have an opinion about the suggestions proposed in the strategy – or you may feel that you would like to add some suggestions.  If you would like to give your comments on the National Stroke Strategy you must do so before Friday 12th October 2007.

The strategy covers all aspects of stroke – from the early days, through to living with the long term effects of stroke and aphasia. This is an important opportunity to have your say on what you think people who have a stroke and their families need at different times.

To give your feedback you need to download the Stroke Consultation feedback document below. There is also a more accessible version.

You will need to read the background information and then answer the questions. Then you will need to print the documents and send it to the Department of Health – see address below. If you prefer, you can type your comments on a separate sheet of paper.

Send your feedback to Bipasha Mondal, Stroke Team, Department of Health, Wellington House, 133–155 Waterloo Road, London SE1 8UG
