Line Up race through the park to support Connect

02 July 2012

12 runners from the experiential marketing and events agency Line Up took to the track to complete the Richmond Park 10K in June, raising over £7,900 for Connect in the process.

The intrepid group of runners beat the breeze on June 9th to complete the course, set within some of London’s most beautiful parkland. They finished in times ranging from 46 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes.

Having initially set themselves a fundraising target of £5,000, the team swiftly reached their goal and then kept on going! To date they have raised just under £8,000 of vital funds that will go to support Connect’s essential services for people with aphasia.

Line Up’s Managing Director, Duncan Beale, has aphasia from a stroke in 2011, and has since become involved with Connect in Wandsworth. The Line Up team decided to show their support by focusing their fundraising efforts in aid of Connect.

Josie Klafkowska, Marketing Director at Line Up, explained why the group embarked on the challenge. ‘As a team, we had already decided to run to show our support for Duncan and his family’ she said. ‘His wife, Carole, mentioned the visits and support that Duncan was getting from Connect volunteers and told us what a lifeline they had been at a time when they really needed it.’

‘We're thrilled to have been able to raise some money for such a great charity and training to run 10k has done us all some good too!'

Find out more about Line Up and what they do on their website, and head here to see how their fundraising will help Connect to support more people with aphasia like Duncan.
