Connect welcomes new Chief Executive

29 February 2008

We are delighted to welcome Phyllis Campbell-McRae as our new Chief Executive. Phyllis is looking forward to building on Connect's influential work to date particularly the major role we have played in pioneering innovative therapies and support for people with aphasia.

Phyllis has held a range of senior roles in organisations such as Amnesty International, Greenpeace, The International Fund for Animal Welfare, RNID and the Advocacy Project. Her breadth of experience covers policy, campaigning and communications as well as championing improved service provision and access.

Phyllis said 'Connect has ensured the real life issues faced by people with aphasia and their relatives are clearly stated throughout the national stroke strategy. I look forward to ensuring that the innovative practices pioneered by Connect reach a wider audience and that we continue to raise standards and expectations for everyone who experiences aphasia'.

Jocelyn Cornwell, Chair of Connect, said 'We are delighted to welcome Phyllis. She has a wealth of experience together with a strong commitment to inclusion and communication disability'.
