creative arts

We have begun to explore the use of the arts, such as music and painting, in developing new approaches to therapy and communication.

Since 1998 we have had our own Poet in Residence, Chris Ireland, who has aphasia. Chris uses aphasia poetry to look at some of the creative and therapeutic ways people with aphasia use language.

We are keen to develop more sessions, courses and events using literature and creative writing. We also plan to work with artists, photographers and actors to help us explore new and exciting ways of linking the creative arts with communication, access and awareness raising.
